Tales From Carpentaria
An Oracle with an unknown voice guiding him.
Luka is not your typical elf. He was not raised in the picturesque forests of the elven islands. He was raised on a ship. The seas are his home. The wind, father and the waves, his mother. Still young for an elf, 87 years old. His hair is a pale brown color set free to dance in the breeze. He is thin and stands about 5 and half feet tall. Much of his body covered in tattoos he acquired from the many islands he has visited. He wears typical sailor attire, simple loose fitting clothes. Rarely seen wearing shoes or boots, only during a storm or onshore are the needs for boots needed or heavier clothing. If asked what the first thing you notice when seeing Luka, it would his bluish purple eyes, or the plain wooden peg extending from when his knee should be. He doesn’t talk about what happened to his leg. No need to, the other sailors will tell you. “It was during a fight with a Kraken.” Or “he lost it to 9 pounds of shot flying across the bow of the ship. It happen before me very eyes.” All of these stories are false. Luka was born without it. Some speculate he was born flawed and was to be sent back to the gods. That is why he was discovered by the Orchid on a voyage to a small island named Luka. Sailors from the Orchid found the child floating in a basket off the coast of an elven island. The carpenter and his wife, unable to have kids of there own, raised Luka as their son. Being raised aboard a ship mostly of humans has presented Luka with a unique challenge. Human do not live as long as elves. Luka has seen three generations of crewman serve the Orchid. But that doesn’t bother him. He knows he has a purpose. For the winds speak to him. They guide him like a loving hand. The winds also warns him of changing currents in the world. And lately the voices have been getting louder. “There is a storm on the horizon. The storm has a name, and it must be stopped.”
